Al Kharitiyath Sports Club
Al-Kharitiyath Sports Club (Arabic: نادي الخريطيات) is a Qatari sports club, best known for its football team of the Qatar Stars League. They are a relatively new club, having been formed in 1996 in the Al Kharitiyath region. They won the Qatari 2nd Division in 2004 meaning that they would play in the QSL the following season, however they were relegated on their very first season in the top flight. They once again regained their position in the Qatar Stars League in the 2008/09 season and have remained there as of the 2011/12 season.[1][2]
History
Al Kharitiyath is among the newest sports clubs in Qatar, having been formed in 1996 as Al-Hilal. Among the founders were:

- Sheikh Khalifa bin Thamer Al Thani
- Nasser Al-Mohammad Fadhalla
- Mubarak Saad
- Mishal Mohammed Al-Ansari
- Adel Ibrahim al-Malik
- Hassan Yousef al-Hakim
Upon it's formation it was entered into the Qatari 2nd Division. After winning the 2nd Division title in 2004, it earned a spot in the top tier. It was renamed to what it is currently known as, Al Kharitiyath, on 19 October 2004 by decision of the vice-president of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
